From the Rink to Resilience

USA Hockey's Warrior Hockey Discipline is dedicated to injured and disabled U.S. military veterans who have served our country and play the sport of ice hockey. The Columbus Warriors represent Ohio on the national stage.

Eligibility

Open to U.S. military veterans with a 10% or higher VA disability rating, or recipients of the Purple Heart. All skill levels welcome — from first-timers to experienced players.

National Events

USA Hockey hosts two national Warrior Hockey events each season. The Columbus Warriors compete against teams from across the country, building camaraderie and competitive spirit.

Provide veterans with meaningful peer-based support networks, encourage a healthier lifestyle through physical activity, and offer a therapeutic experience that contributes to both mental and physical healing.

Submit your service verification document (DD-214 or VA rating letter).

Gear Up

We'll help you get equipment. Loaner gear is available for new players.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I play on both the DV team and a CAHL team?

Yes! You can participate in both the Warrior Hockey team and a C or D league team.

What if I can't commit to a full season?

Check out our Drop-In or Stick & Puck sessions if you want to hit the ice on a more casual basis.

I've never played hockey before. Can I still join?

Absolutely! All skill levels are welcome. Sign up for our D League team or attend a skills development session to get started.

Do I need my own equipment?

We have loaner gear available for new players. As you get more involved, we can help you find affordable equipment.

What if I don't have a disability rating?

You can still participate in our C or D league teams even without a disability rating. If you have a Purple Heart, you may sign up for the Warrior Hockey team regardless of rating.
